How to Suggest Friends on Facebook

Facebook has made the world a much smaller place. People you lost touch with can be found on Facebook, and some people you don't want to connect with, but still have to, are all out there. It's like there is some kind of Facebook etiquette that we are all expected to follow, by adding even those people we've met only once.

As if this was not enough, we now have the option of suggesting friends to others, and though it is just an option that is given to us, we still find ourselves obliged to respond to these suggestions.

Maybe it is not as bad as it sounds, and in fact, sometimes you may actually be able to find someone you have lost touch with, thanks to this option. But with the changes in the Facebook layout on a daily basis, the option of suggesting friends seems to be lost.

When someone is new to Facebook, the option to suggest friends is directly under their profile picture, and is clearly visible. However, when it is someone who has been around on Facebook for a while, then the option to suggest friends seems difficult to find. So:

• Go the profile page of the friend you wish to suggest friends to.

• On the left hand side of the page, below all the information such as mutual friends, likes, etc., you will find an option that says 'suggest friends for―friend's name'. Click on this option.
• Once you click on the suggest friends option, a window will appear with a list of all your friends.

• You will have the option of selecting the friends you wish to suggest to your friend, by clicking on the tick box next to the names. If you wish to find a particular friend, there is an option called 'find friends' on the top right corner of the window, where you can type the name of the friend you are looking for to suggest.

• If you want to know how to suggest all friends on Facebook, there is no clear option that allows you to do so. However, by using some javascript, you can select all your friends to suggest.

• The link goes as javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends').getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}. Paste this link in the address bar, when the window that lists all your friends is open. 

This will tell you how to select all friends on Facebook by enabling the 'select all' option and save you the time of manually selecting each friend to suggest.

• Once you have selected the friends you wish to suggest, the friend you want to suggest to will receive a notification and will be able to decide, whether or not they wish to add the suggested friend.

Facebook can bring together a group of all your friends in different cities and reconnect with them. In fact, it now also offers a group chat option, which means after all of you are connected on Facebook, getting together over the chat application and reliving old moments is now so very simple.
